Introducing Lutherville Chiropractor Dr. J. Mitchell Adolph

“I really didn't know what I was getting into."The future Dr. J. Mitchell Adolph at age 20.

“During my junior year at Poly, I decided I wanted to make helping people through Chiropractic my life’s work," says Dr. Adolph.  "So it was easy for me to streamline my education toward that goal.”

Dr. Adolph is a third generation Chiropractor, a Baltimore native, and an alumnus of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly "A" Course). After graduating from the National College of Chiropractic in 1979, he practiced with his uncle, Dr. Richard Adolph, whose Chiropractic practice was in Towson.

In 1981, Dr. Adolph opened Adolph Family Chiropractic in Perry Hall. Dr. Adolph's practice philosophy is that the human body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism.  The nervous system is the master system of the body, controlling and coordinating the function of every cell, tissue, and organ.  Spinal misalignments, called subluxations, cause nerve interference, pain, and other health problemsChiropractic adjustments correct subluxations to remove nerve interference, relieve pain, and restore health to the body. Dr. Adolph enjoys recreational golf and tennis, and is a fan of the Ravens and Orioles. He, his wife Theresa, and their three girls, Alex, Andi, and Lili, live in Glen Arm.

Dr. Mitch Asks some important questions of interest to Lutherville residents - Chiropractor Lutherville Dr. Mitch Asks...

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in vertebral subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Lutherville parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
